Someone recommended this incredible computer program to me called Plan To Eat.
You can add recipes directly from the internet, Pinterest, manually add them, etc. You can easily change the amount you need to feed and it will adjust all the ingredients for you so you don't have to. Tweak recipes if you want to change the ingredients. See what your friends are planning and what recipes they are saving. Schedule them on your calendar and choose a time frame of scheduled meals you want to print off for a shopping list. The shopping list itself...GENIUS!! You can also use your mobile device to shop with. Just pull up Plan To Eat and choose your shopping list. It will allow you to click boxes by your items as you pick them.
I love that there is a feature on the program that allows you to deliver your meal plans into any calendar application that supports the iCalendar format like Google Calendar, Microsoft Outlook, etc. so others in your household can see what is on the menu and you don't continue being asked "What's for dinner?" LIFESAVER!!!
Take the incredible tour HERE if you'd like to check it out. It is definitely one of the BEST things I have invested in and I have no doubt I will continue to use it! I used it for the first time this week in my attempt to become more organized and it was such a huge help. The shopping list was put together within seconds so I didn't have to sit and write it all out myself. It consolidated the entire meal plan into my list so I could just print it off! It made shopping for everything an absolute breeze!
I made my first recipes tonight and they were a big hit! Huge. MASSIVE! Crockpot Coconut Curry Chicken and Asian Blackberry Pear Salad. The kids scarfed both down and that makes me so happy!! I want us to eat healthier as a family. To see them getting seconds (Wyatt ate FOURTHS) and hear him raving about how it was "hearty, comforting, just so darn good and better than a restaurant!" just made my day!
Instead of rice, I used 3 heads of cauliflower for our family of 6. I cut out the stem and chopped them into large pieces. I threw them in my food processor one head at a time (we have a Ninja) and within seconds, I had perfect, rice sized pieces of cauliflower from all 3 heads! I steamed them for about 12 minutes and it was DELICIOUS with the curry! MUCH healthier than rice and a fantastic low-carb option for us!
Here are the recipes so you can give them a try if you would like. They were quite easy and very delicious! If you try them, let me know what you and your family thought of them. :)
